ICC World Cup Hopes Still Alive
Kathmandu : The National Cricket Team returned home today morning which was in the Netherlands to play in the ICC World Cricket League (WCLC). Nepal lost the first match by seven wickets, on August 13. won the second match against the hosts by 19 runs, on August 15.Nepal picked up crucial two points against the Dutch side that had remained unbeaten in seven matches.
Talking with media people at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon their arrival, batsman Sharad Vesawkar expressed that in spite of the fact that they have returned home with no noteworthy accomplishment in the WCLC, their excursion into the ICC World Cricket League was not over yet.
Batsman Sharad Vesawkar reaffirmed the group's dedication to perform better in the up and coming match and ensure Nepal positions among the main four nations in the League. “We will perform better in upcoming matches and make Nepal selected for the Qualifies.”
Nepal began their WCL crusade with disillusioning results in Scotland and against PNG. Aside from the second match against Scotland (which Nepal lost by 9 wickets), all experiences had gone last possible minute with the restricting group proving to be the best. After a hard-battled 2-0 win against Namibia, and a 1-1 result in the Netherlands, Nepal end the season on a high with the trust that they get the chance to play no less than one of the staying three matches at home. Sources say the ICC is occupied with facilitating the arrangement against Kenya in Nepal.
The top four teams of the eight-team group will earn berths in the 2019 ICC World Cup Qualifiers. Nepal are at the sixth position with six points.
