Netherlands defeated Nepal by 7 wickets
Kathmandu : Netherlands whipped Nepal by seven wickets at the ICC World Cricket League Championship at Amstelveen, Amsterdam on Saturday. Nepal set a lowly 95 runs target against the Netherlands losing all wickets in 38.1 overs.
The Netherlands came to the pitiful 95 runs target set by Nepal in 16.5 overs losing just three wickets. Stephan Myburgh (33) and Wesley Barresi (37) helped complete the chase with more than 33 overs remaining. Nepal’s Karan KC, Basanta Regmi and Sagar Pun took one wicket each.
Losing the toss and batting first, Nepali openers, Gyanendra Malla (11) and Anil Mandal (20) had a good little 23 runs partnership but two wickets in two balls from Roelof van der Merwe in 13th over, pushed Nepal to backfoot. Skipper Paras Khadka was one of the victims and made a first ball duck. Then, the middle order collapse made it difficult to overcome for Nepal. Sompal Kami (12) was the third highest scorer for Nepal.
Timm van der Gugten and Michael Rippon took three wickets each as Roelof van der Merwe sent two Nepali batsmen back to the pavilion. The Netherlands will also host second match at the same venue on Aug 15.
