Nepal Football team leaving for Philippines

Kathmandu : Nepali football team leaving for Manila to play the first match of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers against the Philippines Sunday. Nepal will take on the Philippines in the first match of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers to be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, Philippines on March 28.
Nepali football which is ranked 170th in FIFA rankings has poor record against the 124th-placed Philippines as it has registered just one win out of four matches and faced three defeats. After playing away to Philippines, Nepal will host home games against Yemen on June 13 and Tajikistan on September 5 in Kathmandu.
Gyotuku Koji is head coach of Nepali team, while Raju Kaji Shakya is assistant coach and Ujwal Manadhar is goalkeeping coach. Head coach Koji said the highly competitive matches of the qualifiers would provide the Nepali team with learning experiences. “We will go for a win as we had a sound preparation for the match,” said Koji. Skipper Maharjan was also confident of putting up a good show against the Philippines.
