Dhaka:Bangladesh Sunday recorded their first Test victory over England, Offspinner Mehedi Hasan claimed a Bangladesh test match record of 12-159.
Mehedi took 6-77 in the second innings to rip through England, which lost all 10 wickets in the post-lunch session in its pursuit of 273 runs to win. Bangladesh had come close to breaking England's winning record in the first test at Chittagong but suffered a heartbreaking defeat by 22 runs.
Chasing a target of 273, England seemed to be cruising when Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett guided them to 100 without loss at tea. But 19-year-old Mehedi, playing in only his second Test, triggered a dramatic collapse in the final session of the third day.
But the post tea session belonged to the home side. Bangladesh started to pick up wickets at regular interval. This was a great bowling performance from the local boys. Mehedi once again picked up a five-fer. He is enjoying his bowling against the Englishmen.
