Cricketer sandeep gets sports scholarship from Sanima Bank

Kathmandu | Sanima Bank Limited on Friday agreed to provide sports scholarship of twenty thousand per month to cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane for 2 years. Cricket Players Association of Nepal (CPAN) had lobbied for the scholarship.
Cricket Players Association of Nepal (CPAN) President and former Nepali cricket team skipper Pawan Agrawal said Players Association has bigger ambitions. "We are trying to establish an environment where players could only focus on game and things beside sports are laid for them," said Agrawal. "We are also looking forward to get similar contract for other players."
sandeep has been a shining star in Nepali cricket in a short span of time after his impressive performance in the ICC U-19 World Cup and He also played for national team against Namibia in the third round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship held at the TU grounds, Kirtipur in April. Touted as a future star, Lamichhane was instrumental in handing Nepal a place in the U-19 World Cup quarter-finals, a tournament where he ended up as a second leading wicket taker with 14 wickets.
The agreement also sees Sandeep promoting Sanima in their promotional campaign but CEO Dahal said he will used in very least programmes. Sandeep said the agreement was an inspiration for him.
CEO of Sanima Bank Bhuvan Dahal said that the bank sponsored Sandeep with the view to motivate other corporate houses to take similar steps of supporting players and promoting cricket. “We hope our gesture will serve as an example to other corporate house to tie up with more players. We wanted a player to focus solely on his game without worrying for earnings. It can be taken as a sports stipend,”
