Regular Nepali captain Paras Khadka, veteran left arm spinners Shakti Gauchan and Basant Regmi alongside fast bowler Sompal Kami are the absentees of the squad. Paras is still not fit while the other three bowlers have been rested.
Hong Kong Team has also rested some of its importain players for the Bangladesh tour including left-arm spinner Nadeem Ahmed. Both Nepal and Hong Kong will have to overcome poor batting performance when they face off on Today. Both the associate sides have failed in batting department against their Test-playing opponents in the previous two matches. Hong Kong was bowled out for 125 runs in its eight-wicket defeat against Bangladesh. Similarly, Nepal was bowled out for 174 runs in its 83-run defeat to the same opponent.
Teams are divided into 2 groups. Group A consists of India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia while Group B includes Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Nepal.
