Nepal beat Laos 3-0 to enter AFC Solidarity Cup finals
Kathmandu : Nepal has advanced to the final of the AFC Solidarity Cup defeating Laos 3-0 in a penalty shootout at Negari Stadium in Kuching, Malaysia on Saturday. Kiran Chemjong was the hero for the Nepali side saving two of the three penalties, the third of which was shot wide. Heman Gurung, Bikram Lama and Sujal Shrestha converted the first three penalties for Nepal.
For Nepal, Heman Gurung, Sujal Shrestha and Bikram Lama scored in the spot kick. Nepali goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong saved all the three spot kicks in the game. Earlier, Champathong scored a header in the 18’ to give Laos an early lead, but Bimal Gharti Magar equalized just after the first half break with a glancing header.
The match was pushed into extra-time after no additional goal was scored. Ananta Tamang scored in the 104’ minute to give Nepal a crucial lead. Champathong scored a brace in the 117’ to equalize for Laos. Nepal will play the last against the victor of Brunei and Macau in the last on Tuesday.
