Nepal Win The Title of AFC Solidarity Cup 2016
Kathmandu : Nepal has lifted its first ever Asian football title defeating Macau in the final of the AFC Solidarity Cup held at Kuching, Malaysia on Tuesday. It is Nepal’s third international title this year. Nepal had won the Bangabandhu Gold Cup in Bangladesh and the SAFF Games men’s football gold medal in India earlier this year.
It was third continuous title for Nepal having beforehand won Bangabandhu Gold Cup in Bangladesh and twelfth South Asian Games football gold.
In the 52nd minutes, as Nepal won a free-kick Bimal Gharti Magar drifted a weighted conveyance into the six-yard box where unmarked Bharat Khawas coordinated a free header which, in any case, missed the objective.
Nepal's standing captain Biraj Maharjan surrendered an unnecessary free-kick in the 62nd minutes as the ball bobbed unadroitly to touch his arms simply outside the D-box zone. As Macau player solidly struck the ball, Nepali caretaker Kiran Kumar Limbu was well beaten. Ananta Tamang, in any case, acted the hero and protected Nepal's lead.
