Sri Lankan Star Players Come Nepal To Play T20

Kathmandu : The Nepali cricket team are set to play three Twenty20 games against a Lankan Lions team comprising some cricketing greats and five members of the current national fold, at the TU cricket ground from April 25 to May 1.


The former Sri Lankan star left-handed batsman and all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya, the 39 years old slow left arm orthodox bowler Rangana Herath, the left-handed Upul Tharanga and bowling all-rounder Sachithra Senanayake will come to Nepal. Organizing a press conference in the capital on Wednesday, The series would be a part of celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Nepal, according to the company.
National team skipper Paras Khadka would captain the Gorkha Rhinos while the legendary batsman and former Sri Lankan great Aravinda de Silva would be his counterpart. According to Nepal's skipper Paras Khadka, Cricket Players Association of Nepal (CPAN) will take the initiative to form the cricket team and will be assisted by national team coach Jagat Tamata.

The event would provide a platform for the national cricket team to play competitive matches against the legends of the game so as to hone their skills and to foster friendship and cultural exchange between the two SAARC nations.
